Forgive the confusion, my fault. Since registering with the original founders of the roster many years ago, I literally never used the system. I am now motivated to get involved with the "Exreps" organization having just recently come across your web pages.
I wanted to know how to go about entering information under the COMMENTS heading of the roster.
I realize upon reflection that most likely for obvious security reasons we give you the data for recording/entering. Entry should start; USMS, United Nations, Philco Corp, Philco-Ford, Ford Aerospace, Communications&Systems div of Computer Sciences.
Expertise Radar, Telecommunications, Satellites, Earth stations, Security Systems, Counter-Terrorism& Espionage, Anti-Eavesdropping, Cyber-warfare. I am still active in SEA, Indonesia, Mid-East and Africa.
Thanks for your time and effort Jay - Bob Adams

Linda Mayhan Harris

I ran upon your web page when looking for some listing of employees for Phico during the WW!! era. One in particular that I need information on is William Harvey Mayhan. He was a Engineer for your company and was installing the Radar system he helped invent for the military on one of their ships when it was called to active duty. Although this has been quite some time ago, surely there is a "company" record on his employment some where. He is my uncle and I am doing family research on the Mayhan family and any information you can help me with is GREATLY appreciated.. Thank you
Linda Mayhan Harris
1100 Tyson Road Rison, Arkansas 71665
sugiebrat@tds.net

Hello Jay: I am Joe Salute, an Ex "Philco TechRep." (I don't believe we have crossed career paths, but . I am so impressed on what you have done with the site....a far cry from the crude beginning I kicked off many years ago that was picked up by Roger Wolf.

You have really have taken it where it needed to go to sustain the history of the contribution of the men and women TechReps who provided techincal support for the varried Military mission over many years. The "camaraderie" between TechReps during their assignments continued far into their retirement years. Please note my new email address and I will be a more frequent visitor to your site. Thanks again for the tremendous professional effort you are putting into this.

Another Note From Frank Creaser

The same 4 star AF General that was in the Far East was later assigned to be Commander of Air Defense Command where Philco had about 100 or more Tech Reps.

One day, Bob Herr our Philco VP and I made a call on the General who always felt he was a bit superior to common folks. When we met ; the General said to Mr.Herr-----"Do you realize that I command the Organization that provides this great Nation with 15 minutes warning of any penetration of the Air Space around our Country""

Mr.Herr responded as follows "That is great Gen.P.---However I am not overly impressed, During WW 1 --- I was a forward observer and with my field glasses and the horns in my ears; I could provide at least 30 minute warning of any incoming German Jennys."

Gen, P quickly switched subjects True Story

From Frank Creaser

I was stationed in the Far East in the late 40's and the CG of FEAF was a rather "hard ass" 4 Star who was determined to stamp out VD amongst his Forces. He rated his Field Commanders on their success and ability to eliminate this disease from their organizations. However, his Commander in the P.I continued to make poor marks.

As a result, the CG of FEAF flew to the P.I and roused the Commander out of bed and they drove to the village of Angelees for this was the "red light" area. As they pulled up in front of one of the Squali huts, out came a GI. The General said "son--do you know what the rate of VD is in this area"??

The GI responded------"Yes suh---it is $5 dollars fro enlisted men and $10 dollars for Officers"" True story

Our email address is on your list so I guess we are signed up, but we are not receiving your newsletters. Please add us to your newsletter distribution. Thank you.

Sorry, you can ignore our previous message. We didn't realize this was not a website just for the Tech Rep Division of Philco/Philco Ford. We aren't interested in all the other, competitor companies who had people working as tech reps. Thanks

Jim,

If you check under the about button, ExReps was started by Joe Salute of Philco, then Picked up by Rodger Wolf. When he stopped publishing in 2002 I kinda took it over.

Over the years most Reps were not fortunate enough to be able to stay with one company, and in fact Philco changed many times, and was finally sold to Loral, and sold again to Lockheed Martin. I think my own case is pretty typical, I worked for various divisions of Philco long enough to be partial vested in retirement, however to stay employed I also worked for BFEC, Marconi, Page, and a host of other companies over the years.

There was an organization, ExRepsUS, that was limited to Philco divisions. However they dissolved a few years back, they were based in the SF bay area and sent me a copy of their mailing list to add to the site. This kinda brings up the 900 pound gorilla in the room, the old guys are dying like flies these days, so all of the single company community boards are going away. Support areas for former Reps from a single company, or a single project, seem to be going away as the maintainer is no longer able to keep them going.

We do attempt to keep track of the ones still on the air on our links page. I run ExReps to support all the people who have worked in the field in the past, and to provide a switchboard where you can connect with those who you worked with in the distant past, no matter which companies they worked for.

I am sorry that this is not your cuppa tea, do you want me to remove your address from the mailing list ?

Jay Clark -- Overworked Weblacky

My name is Ed Hess edymarww@telefonica.net and edymar02@gmail.com and I am in your register. I had some contacts recently that alluded to your postings of photographs and home locations. Our home is at longitude 3.807518972477339 latitude 40.00261339557413. This is on the island of Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. We also spend considerable time in Phoenix, AZ.

Following my years on DEWEAST Project, I came to Spain with General Instrument Co. to inaugurate the Menorca repeater for the AFCS MEDCOM in 1965. The CTSP position was converted to a DAFC engineering position in '66 and I remained on this site as a GS-11 until 1975. I later returned to the MEDCOM and worked in Greece (Boeing Services), Turkey(Holmes & Narver) and ultimately returned to Menorca in 1988 (Page Iberica SA). Those jobs were to operate in parallel with Sat links and ultimately close down USAF Comm installations in Spain, Italy, Northern Greece and NW Turkey.

I attach some photos of me and the Control console at DYE4 in the 60's. I also worked at DYE3 on the ice cap of Greenland during 1962, 63 & 64. I left the DEWEAST sector in 1965. Between what I have and many other pictures gleaned from old pals and miscellaneous sources, I have quite a collection of interesting shots.Note the '06 shot of DYE3 (abandoned and nearly buried in the snow). For some strange reason I was especially fond of the Ice Cap. Regards, Ed Hess (At Work)

Note from the SysOp, Ed you can post your own photos by snagging a membership in the forums area and uploading them to the Gallery, if you want I will create your own Album. You are on the ExReps Map, you will have to use the little hand to drag the map over to spain, click on the satellite view if you want to see your Island

Janice Hall - My husband died of a brain tumor and subsequent medical conditions. He was in the Army, but went to Vietnam as a Civilian employee of Bendix. He was exposed to Agent Orange. He had allergic reaction to metal, high blood pressure, rhumatoid arthritis, and then diagnosis with glioblatoma multiform brain tumor stage IV. VA won't deal with this; sent documentation to DoD, and I have finally gotten to Department of Labor. Now they are asking for documentation again; although, everything was forwarded to them.

Bert Kortegaard - Philco '52-'54 I just stumbled across the Ex-Rep roster and see several names I'd long ago forgotten.

Your hook-up is a great idea. I left Philco to go to MIT as my GI Bill was about to expire, but I really enjoyed my time back in those days when America was the best country there was, we were the best tech-folks America had, and our assignments couldn't have been bought by millionaires. Bert Kortegaard, Philco '52-'54

If you browse the reference url(my autobio, necessary to help authenticate my Korean War site) you'll see several links to my Tech Rep days.(e.g., you, and possibly other members, might enjoy the description of my first day with 606 AC&W back in '52)

Gary A. Martek - Hi Jay, I'm interested in finding a copy of a Philco Training Manual on Antennas, Volume 2. A friend of mine, Wilson A. Caselli, gave me Volume 1. and a Philco Field Engineers' Data Handbook. As a antenna designer and ham radio operator, I really think these publications are of high quality and have a valuable historical perspective on antenna applications on the government/military side. If you could help me locate volume 2 or any other Philco antenna related training materials I'd be most appreciative. This is for my own interest and not of Shakespeare Electronic Products Group. 73, Gary, W7DO Gary A.
Ken Newby I sent you an e-mail previously inquiring if you could help me find out any information in regards to Dennis W. Newton & his possible retirement & death benefits for his now bereaved widow, Ngan Newton. I also spoke to you once & you pointed me in the direction of contacting Lockheed Martin, who bought out Philco Ford Aerospace. I am still having difficulty getting in contact with this company or the correct department for this issue. Could you perhaps help me any further with getting in contact with someone who would have any information pertaining to this? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am trying to help Mrs. Newton due to the current circumstances since Dennis' death. If not, I appreciate the help you have already extended so far. My contact information is the same but I will repeat it here again for you, just in case. Thank you very much & have a great weekend!
Ron Bardy - Stumbled across two websites for ex-tech reps a couple of weeks ago with some old names of people that I worked with years ago with Philco-Ford in Thailand and Iran. I'm wondering if these websites are still active or not? I tried to add my name to the lists but haven't noticed any kind of updates. Also, saw a mention that a close buddy, Mitch Lawson, and a couple of my former supervisors (Jerry Antonaglia and Frank Mullins) had passed away. Always thought that I would run into Mitch one of these days on Patpong in Bangkok but now appears won't be happening. Tried to email John Mack Brown for more info but his email addy is not a good one. Would you happen to have any more information about Mitch? He always seemed to be a very healthy guy when I knew him but that was a lot of years ago. Now retired and living in Udorn.

Bob Siptrott - I was in the SCF, SCN for thirty eight years. All but 9 years of it, at the SCF/ Onizuka Air force Station. The nine years was at the Kodiak Tracking Station from June 1963 thru June 1972 Below are two web sites I have on the subject. The first one has photos of all the function areas in 1965 CDC160A era. http://www.kadiak.org/bob/index2.html , The second, is a functional description of all areas and much, much more. Go to the back of this site and read voices from the past, in the sign in book. http://www.kadiak.org/bob/index2.html
