My name is Ed Hess edymarww@telefonica.net and edymar02@gmail.com and I am in your register. I had some contacts recently that alluded to your postings of photographs and home locations. Our home is at longitude 3.807518972477339 latitude 40.00261339557413. This is on the island of Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. We also spend considerable time in Phoenix, AZ.
Following my years on DEWEAST Project, I came to Spain with General Instrument Co. to inaugurate the Menorca repeater for the AFCS MEDCOM in 1965. The CTSP position was converted to a DAFC engineering position in '66 and I remained on this site as a GS-11 until 1975. I later returned to the MEDCOM and worked in Greece (Boeing Services), Turkey(Holmes & Narver) and ultimately returned to Menorca in 1988 (Page Iberica SA). Those jobs were to operate in parallel with Sat links and ultimately close down USAF Comm installations in Spain, Italy, Northern Greece and NW Turkey.
I attach some photos of me and the Control console at DYE4 in the 60's. I also worked at DYE3 on the ice cap of Greenland during 1962, 63 & 64. I left the DEWEAST sector in 1965. Between what I have and many other pictures gleaned from old pals and miscellaneous sources, I have quite a collection of interesting shots.Note the '06 shot of DYE3 (abandoned and nearly buried in the snow). For some strange reason I was especially fond of the Ice Cap. Regards, Ed Hess (At Work)
Note from the SysOp, Ed you can post your own photos by snagging a membership in the forums area and uploading them to the Gallery, if you want I will create your own Album. You are on the ExReps Map, you will have to use the little hand to drag the map over to spain, click on the satellite view if you want to see your Island

India marked its presence on Moon tonight to be only the fourth nation to scale this historic milestone after a Moon Impact Probe

In this century a number of events could extinguish humanity. The probability of these events may be very low, but the expected value of preventing them could be high, as it represents the value of all future human lives. We review the challenges to studying human extinction risks and, by way of example, estimate the cost effectiveness of preventing extinction-level asteroid impacts.
TechCrunch points us to the news that the Ontario transportation board has sided with the bus company and fined PickupPal. It's also established a bunch of draconian rules that any user in Ontario must follow if it uses the service -- including no crossing of municipal boundaries -- meaning the service is only good within any particular city's limits.
