Gordon (Gordy) Stiles - I was a Philco Tech. Rep., for a brief period, in Alaska. I was assigned to the 719th AC&W Sqdn., at Sparrevohn. I was there from July '65 to July "66.
Gene Montgomery Avco, Litton - I don't find any Avco tech reps on the list. There were a bunch of us back in the days of SAGE (working on the AN/FPS-26, AN/FPS-26A Height Finding radar systems and AN/FSS-7 SLBM Tracker radar systems).
Gene Smith - Bendix (BFEC), Bendix Tech Rep on FPS-14 in Fox Harbour, Labrador(3/1957 to 5/1958; FPS-3 Unishima and Subiri Yama, Japan (08/1958 - 08/1959) BFEC Tokyo Depot 8/59 - 9/61) Korea K-6 GPS-4 ROKAF 9/61 - 10/63. Jim Thompson - Thanks for keeping me up to date and on your list. Since recently completing a contract in Qatar, I've decided I deserve some time off in Koh Samui, Thailand. Can't say enough about this place; a true tropical paradise. Wishing you and staff a Happy New Year.
Forgive the confusion, my fault. Since registering with the original founders of the roster many years ago, I literally never used the system. I am now motivated to get involved with the "Exreps" organization having just recently come across your web pages. I wanted to know how to go about entering information under the COMMENTS heading of the roster. I realize upon reflection that most likely for obvious security reasons we give you the data for recording/entering. Entry should start; USMS, United Nations, Philco Corp, Philco-Ford, Ford Aerospace, Communications&Systems div of Computer Sciences. Expertise Radar, Telecommunications, Satellites, Earth stations, Security Systems, Counter-Terrorism& Espionage, Anti-Eavesdropping, Cyber-warfare. I am still active in SEA, Indonesia, Mid-East and Africa. Thanks for your time and effort Jay - Bob Adams
I ran upon your web page when looking for some listing of employees for Phico during the WW!! era. One in particular that I need information on is William Harvey Mayhan. He was a Engineer for your company and was installing the Radar system he helped invent for the military on one of their ships when it was called to active duty. Although this has been quite some time ago, surely there is a "company" record on his employment some where. He is my uncle and I am doing family research on the Mayhan family and any information you can help me with is GREATLY appreciated.. Thank you Linda Mayhan Harris 1100 Tyson Road Rison, Arkansas 71665 sugiebrat@tds.net

Hello Jay: I am Joe Salute, an Ex "Philco TechRep." (I don't believe we have crossed career paths, but . I dusted off exerpts from and oldresume(attached) to see if you remember any.)
I was stumbling around the internet and ran in to your ExRep web site. I am so impressed on what you have done with the site....a far cry from the crude beginning I kicked off many years ago that waspicked up by Roger Wolf.
You have really have taken it where it needed to go to sustain the history of the contribution of the men and women TechReps who provided techincal support for the varriedMilitary mission over many years. The "camaraderie" between TechReps during their assignments continued far into their retirement years. Please note my new email address and I will be a morefrequent visitor to your site. Thanks again for the tremendous professional effort you are putting into this.
An old friend, Frank McCann, told me about ExReps several years ago. ust wanted to let old friends of Rocky Rockwood know that Rocky passed away on October 25,2008. He had lung cancer and also kidney disease. Lucy Rockford
The same 4 star AF General that was in the Far East was later assigned to be Commander of Air Defense Command where Philco had about 100 or more Tech Reps.
One day, Bob Herr our Philco VP and I made a call on the General who always felt he was a bit superior to common folks. When we met ; the General said to Mr.Herr-----"Do you realize that I command the Organization that provides this great Nation with 15 minutes warning of any penetration of the Air Space around our Country""
Mr.Herr responded as follows "That is great Gen.P.---However I am not overly impressed, During WW 1 --- I was a forward observer and with my field glasses and the horns in my ears; I could provide at least 30 minute warning of any incoming German Jennys."
I was stationed in the Far East in the late 40's and the CG of FEAF was a rather "hard ass" 4 Star who was determined to stamp out VD amongst his Forces. He rated his Field Commanders on their success and ability to eliminate this disease from their organizations. However, his Commander in the P.I continued to make poor marks.
As a result, the CG of FEAF flew to the P.I and roused the Commander out of bed and they drove to the village of Angelees for this was the "red light" area. As they pulled up in front of one of the Squali huts, out came a GI. The General said "son--do you know what the rate of VD is in this area"??
The GI responded------"Yes suh---it is $5 dollars fro enlisted men and $10 dollars for Officers"" True story
C.F. (Mitch) Mitchell cfmitchmitchell@ecarthage.com - Philco-Ford - I heard (about ExReps) from Jim Black in a telephone conversation. I worked in Thailand for three years under the Philco-Ford umbrella and then in Ecuador for a year and then in Iran under the Aeronutronic name. (Sorry, I can't remember the whole name)
Many of you may not remember me---but I am providing my new e-mail address using my old listing .of many with whom I have worked. After nearly 60 years of involvement with the Defense Industries [RCA, GE, Unisys] I have finally retired [?] and moved to our home in Nassau, Bahamas. I will miss the many fine people with whom I have worked and known over these past many years.
My new e-mail address is frank.creaser@coralwave.com and my phone is 242-327-3412 Best wishes to all of you as we now focus on the future. If you ever get down this way---you know how to reach me. Frank

Our email address is on your list so I guess we are signed up, but we are not receiving your newsletters. Please add us to your newsletter distribution. Thank you.
Sorry, you can ignore our previous message. We didn't realize this was not a website just for the Tech Rep Division of Philco/Philco Ford. We aren't interested in all the other, competitor companies who had people working as tech reps. Thanks
Jim,
If you check under the about button, ExReps was started by Joe Salute of Philco, then Picked up by Rodger Wolf. When he stopped publishing in 2002 I kinda took it over.
Over the years most Reps were not fortunate enough to be able to stay with one company, and in fact Philco changed many times, and was finally sold to Loral, and sold again to Lockheed Martin. I think my own case is pretty typical, I worked for various divisions of Philco long enough to be partial vested in retirement, however to stay employed I also worked for BFEC, Marconi, Page, and a host of other companies over the years.
There was an organization, ExRepsUS, that was limited to Philco divisions. However they dissolved a few years back, they were based in the SF bay area and sent me a copy of their mailing list to add to the site. This kinda brings up the 900 pound gorilla in the room, the old guys are dying like flies these days, so all of the single company community boards are going away. Support areas for former Reps from a single company, or a single project, seem to be going away as the maintainer is no longer able to keep them going.
We do attempt to keep track of the ones still on the air on our links page. I run ExReps to support all the people who have worked in the field in the past, and to provide a switchboard where you can connect with those who you worked with in the distant past, no matter which companies they worked for.
I am sorry that this is not your cuppa tea, do you want me to remove your address from the mailing list ?

My name is Ed Hess edymarww@telefonica.net and edymar02@gmail.com and I am in your register. I had some contacts recently that alluded to your postings of photographs and home locations. Our home is at longitude 3.807518972477339 latitude 40.00261339557413. This is on the island of Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. We also spend considerable time in Phoenix, AZ.
Following my years on DEWEAST Project, I came to Spain with General Instrument Co. to inaugurate the Menorca repeater for the AFCS MEDCOM in 1965. The CTSP position was converted to a DAFC engineering position in '66 and I remained on this site as a GS-11 until 1975. I later returned to the MEDCOM and worked in Greece (Boeing Services), Turkey(Holmes & Narver) and ultimately returned to Menorca in 1988 (Page Iberica SA). Those jobs were to operate in parallel with Sat links and ultimately close down USAF Comm installations in Spain, Italy, Northern Greece and NW Turkey.
I attach some photos of me and the Control console at DYE4 in the 60's. I also worked at DYE3 on the ice cap of Greenland during 1962, 63 & 64. I left the DEWEAST sector in 1965. Between what I have and many other pictures gleaned from old pals and miscellaneous sources, I have quite a collection of interesting shots.Note the '06 shot of DYE3 (abandoned and nearly buried in the snow). For some strange reason I was especially fond of the Ice Cap. Regards, Ed Hess (At Work)
Note from the SysOp, Ed you can post your own photos by snagging a membership in the forums area and uploading them to the Gallery, if you want I will create your own Album. You are on the ExReps Map, you will have to use the little hand to drag the map over to spain, click on the satellite view if you want to see your Island

John Gresens - General Dynamics/Electronics (Ex NAESU Tech- Rep) When searching Google for NAESU, all you get is a web-site saying under major construction. This web-site has been under major construction for many years and appears to be abandoned. I had many friends in NAESU during the early to mid sixties and would like to find some of them! What do you know about this NAESU web-site, is it still worth checking? Try it yourself! Respectfully, John Gresens

Caselli, gave me Volume 1. and a Philco Field Engineers' Data Handbook. As a antenna designer and ham radio operator, I really think these publications are of high quality and have a valuable historical perspective on antenna applications on the government/military side. I also spoke to you once & you pointed me in the direction of contacting Lockheed Martin, who bought out Philco Ford Aerospace. I am still having difficulty getting in contact with this company or the correct department for this issue. Could you perhaps help me any further with getting in contact with someone who would have any information pertaining to this? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am trying to help Mrs. Newton due to the current circumstances since Dennis' death. If not, I appreciate the help you have already extended so far. My contact information is the same but I will repeat it here again for you, just in case. Thank you very much & have a great weekend! Sincerely, - Ken Newby leverage@lvcm.com, (702)498-2882
Jean-Pierre MISSON - I have only now logged in on Internet and finally identified your site. I would appreciate your help. I first got to meet Page people on the Hycon Page project in Libya.. Then got to work for Page Communications in Belgium (Shape Relocation) and in Libya (Oasis Oil C°). Then joined Page EUROPA and worked in Rome and Gabon. When in Belgium (1967-1969) I met and worked with Arnold EDWARDS ,Instructor on the Shape Relocation System.I would very much like to contact him.Could you help forwarding my address to him if he is registered with you ? Many thanks for your kind assistance.Best regards.

Joanne Gilbert - Hi, my name is Joanne, I was born in Bangkok in Feb 1970. I was told that my birth father William Cahall worked for Philco Ford in Thailand. When I was 13 months old, my mother married another American and brought me to the U.S. I would like to know if anyone knew my father and if they could tell me anything about him.
Jack Herre - It is with great sadness that I have to tell all of you that my husband, Jack Herre, passed away last Monday after a losing a battle with brain cancer. He was diagnosed in October and had surgery in November. He was at our home since December 1st and his last months were pain free. He will be sorely missed by all. His passing was very peaceful and he was his wonderful sparkle-eyed, humorous self until the end.
Charles (Chuck) Hobson - From 1950 to 1959. Assigned to various AC&W Squadrons- in the States; Fort Bliss Army electronics school in El Paso, Texas; Norfolk Naval Base and Palo Alto California Philco WDL. Remember 22nd and Lehigh Philadelphia. Famous lament: Dear Flo, Send more dough!.
Ron Bardy - Stumbled across two websites for ex-tech reps a couple of weeks ago with some old names of people that I worked with years ago with Philco-Ford in Thailand and Iran. I'm wondering if these websites are still active or not? I tried to add my name to the lists but haven't noticed any kind of updates. Also, saw a mention that a close buddy, Mitch Lawson, and a couple of my former supervisors (Jerry Antonaglia and Frank Mullins) had passed away. Always thought that I would run into Mitch one of these days on Patpong in Bangkok but now appears won't be happening. Tried to email John Mack Brown for more info but his email addy is not a good one. Would you happen to have any more information about Mitch? He always seemed to be a very healthy guy when I knew him but that was a lot of years ago. Now retired and living in Udorn.

Bob Siptrott - I was in the SCF, SCN for thirty eight years. All but 9 years of it, at the SCF/ Onizuka Air force Station. The nine years was at the Kodiak Tracking Station from June 1963 thru June 1972 Below are two web sites I have on the subject. The first one has photos of all the function areas in 1965 CDC160A era. http://www.kadiak.org/bob/index2.html , The second, is a functional description of all areas and much, much more. Go to the back of this site and read voices from the past, in the sign in book. http://www.kadiak.org/bob/index2.html
Jim Thompson - Heard about ExReps from Frank Reinsh, friend and former colleague. Long time overseas employee via VN, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, and most recently, Oman, my favorite.
Neal White - You have me listed ok. I have been retired quite a few years now, but just heard about your site a short time ago. It is nice to see so many folks that I have worked with over the 22+years that I worked for Philco/Ford Aerospace. I thank you for all the effort you must have put forth to develop and maintain such a useful site.
Ronald Adams - I was with RCA Service Company in 1961 on the White Alice System in Alaska, ITT Federal Electric in 1962 on Big Ralley II in Athens Greece, Page Communications on Back Porch and Wet Wash in 1965 and 1966 in Viet Nam and Thailand. I am retired in Dayton, Nevada since 2005.
Glenn Cummins - I have just switched my email address from archie7891@aol.com to glenn.cummins@sbcglobal.net. Please use this new address for all future emails and instant messages
Neil Lieb - I started at Fort Bliss,Texas in Sept of 1955, teaching at Army electronics and radar school. Tranfered to Palo Alto Ca,in May of 1959, to prepare Operation and Maintenance Manuals for the government. Left Ford In June of 1986, and formally retired in May of 1991. Would like hear from the guys I worked with at Fort Bliss. My current address is 18717 Mill Villa Road Space 410 Jamestown, Ca 95327.
Len Landers - Started out in Thailand in 1965 on the MRC-98 contract (4 years) then went on to Iran and Greece then Germany and England. I stuck with Philco, Philco-Ford, Aeronutronic-Ford, Ford Aerospace all the way through my overseas duties and onto the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and finally to the Johnson Space Center here in Houston. I left Ford in 1986 when we lost the JSC contract and I transferred to the Rockwell Space Operations Company then to the United Space Alliance when Lockheed and Rockwell created it.
Walter Hrab - I have just switched my email address from wrhrab@ev1.net to wrhrab@sbcglobal.net . Please use this new address for all future emails and instant messages.

Robert (Bob) Crampton - 417-743-2696 - If any one is in to hike Long Distance. I will doing the AT in March of 2008 and if you would like tack along let me know. We just formed a new hiking club that we are calling the "Wilderness Adventurers" and we hike souther Missouri and norther Arkansas for now.
Joe Rush - 603-497-8389 - I used to be listed for updated information about old friends and aquaintences but I seemed to have dropped off. I find that I drop off more and more as I get older. Started with Philco-Ford at MSC Houston in 1967. Lots of time at New Hampshire. (note from jayr - Joe, you were not dropped, you are still on the roster)
Arthur Maier - 951.676.0982 - Jieranai who is my wife, used to work at Philco-Ford In Thailand with Paul Buckwalter, she saw him listed on Classmates.com and wrote to him and they talked on the phone and he told her about this site.
Sam Eardley - It might be interesting to categorize this group by Geographical Regions they worked in, what branch of the Armed Service they were a Tech Rep. for and what period of time the service was performed. For example I worked for the US Army Signal Corp, in the Pacific region from 1959 through 1964 and then the Air Force, from 1964 though 1967, in the Pacific region.
Wayne Strickland and Dave Connerly can now relax since I've registered. Started as a tracker in 1967 and still like to keep up to date. I retired in 2002 but can't get the range out of my system. Keep tracking folks.
Roderick Hunt - 602-540-2212 I used to receive the info when Howie Althouse was doing it, Then kind of dropped off. Received web site from another trackker
James (JJ) McKay - See a lot of AFSCN Satellite trackers on this site. Retired in 1999 after 5 years at Ford and 27 years at Litton. Just can't keep this out of my blood. Out of retirement in 1 year and working for the last 6 years at Lockheed Martin supporting the Airborne Laser Program (ABL). Retirement (Again) is just around the corner. Best Regards, JJ

I have my association listed as Philco-Ford through Ford Aerospace. It
should probably read through Lockheed Martin. I was with Ford when Loral
bought the Aerospace elements. When Loral lost the contract with the AF, I
retired from Loral and went to work for Lockheed Martin. I'm still there
with them in Colorado Springs.

I was wondering if anyone might be in contact or know the status of Mr.
Marvin 'Marv' Shute, Tech Rep, (Company Unknown) that was stationed at Tan
Son Nhut AB, Vietnam, throughout the 1960's. I lost track of Marv after
the fall of Vietnem and Emergency Evacuation of Saigon. Not sure how to
take the first step to find what happened to Marv and perhaps/hopefully
get in touch again with him? Also Hank Brian, same office, same time
frame, same Tech Rep status, believed to have moved into Thailand after
the Vietnam war. Det 2, Pac GEEIA Rgn, Clavier Corp, Capehart Corporation

I was with the Philco-Ford group out of Willow Grove, PA where I trained
on the AUTODIN ADMS message switching system, then spent about two years
(1967-1969) working on the Philco 102 computers at a Philco installed site
in Pirmasense Germany. Upon returning stateside, I was trained on the
Philco-Ford OCR Mail Reader system (an attachment to the Burroughs LSM
(Letter Sorting Machine), then spent about two more years in Boston, MA at
the Boston South Station US Postal Annex maintaining and modifying the
machines. My wife and I now live in Charlotte, NC, and I am about ready to
retire.
Larry
Barnhill ITT-DCD, Page Communications, Federal Electric - I
worked for a short time for Page in '65, on a missile project in Southern
Germany. Bottom of the food-chain, so to speak. I didn't last long though,
because of some managerial practices which I didn't approve of. Before
Page, I had been
working on the USNS Vanguard out of Cape Canaveral and had seen the winds
of change (cuts )coming through, so I quit that to go to Page. After Page,
I was picked up by ITT-DCD and spent a long time with them. Then Federal
Electric for quite a while, then a company called EPS. I quit EPS back in
1999 and applied for this CACI position, and I've done very well here in
the last five years. Don't know where I'll go next, but then a Tech Rep
never does. Nice to see such a site and I'm glad a Friend pointed me to
it. Best Regards, Larry Barnhill
