December 24, 1923 to October 31, 2011, resident of
Phoenix Arizona. Robert had a lengthy battle with
the effects of COPD. He passed away peacefully with
the support and presence of friends and family.
Robert is survived by Garnet his loving wife of 68
years, their three children Cliff, Penny, Robbin,
four Grandchildren Robert, Erik, Ashley, Jai‘mielle,
and four great-grand children.
Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Fred and daughter Cheri Lynn. Robert was born in Bancroft Nebraska to August and Eleanor Vogt. Robert married his high school sweetheart Garnet on April 11, 1943. Soon after, he joined the Army and was one of our brave young men to take Utah Beach and fulfill his tour in Normandy in the Signal Corps. After his return, he opened an electronics repair shop which lead to an employment opportunity that took them and two children to Nome Alaska and later to Anchorage. His career took he and his family to California, Pennsylvania, Singapore and England. Robert and Garnet were very involved in music. As a youth Robert started a Dixie Land band and later a Big Band Swing group. Robert later became a Square dance singer, which later lead to them starting a country and Western band - Country Plus. They were still active in Country Plus until two years ago. Robert lead a very active life that included being a Mason, Ham Radio operator and a Big Game hunting guide. Robert was loved by many and will be missed by all. In lue of flowers, the family asks that everyone perform random acts of kindness just like they were famous for. Local services will be held on Thursday, 11/10/11 2pm at the Phoenix North Mobile Park Recreation Center, 17825 N. 7th St., Phoenix AZ, 992-4116.
