James A. Spaziano, passed away February 15th, 2005 after
a short battle with Pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Pat.
Jim started his 32-year career in the aerospace industry
during the early 1970's working for Bendix Field Engineering Corp. (BFEC)
as a "Range Rat". He spent time at various remote tracking
stations, including Quito Satellite Tracking Station in Ecuador and at the
Newfoundland Tracking Station where he met his wife Pat.
In the 1980's he moved to NASA Goddard Space Flight
Center (GSFC) and worked on the NESEA Program. While still at GSFC, Jim
became part of the multi-agency Network Support Team (NST).
In the early 1990's, while still with BFEC, which later
became AlliedSignal Technical Services Corp. (ATSC), he transferred to
Houston. He was assigned to the Operational Support Team (OST) Telemetry
Section, working in the Mission Control Center (MCC) as a Data Flow
Engineer (DFE). In the mid 1990's, Jim's network experience and software
knowledge was put to work as he joined the workstation integration team
helping the NASA transition into the newly built MCC.
His most recent endeavors were focused on the
International Space Station (ISS) hardware and software integration. He
was especially proud to be assigned to the Portable Computer System (PCS)
group; working on software integration of laptops used onboard the
International Space Station for Command & Control. He will be dearly
missed. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and coworkers.
