'My
name is Ozymandias, king of kings, Look upon my works ye Mighty, and
despair!'
Actually, if he ever existed,
Ozymandias fails to mention that they were not exactly "his" works, he
brought in some tech reps to get the job done.
The idea of
bringing skilled folks in, from afar, to do jobs quickly, and train locals to
carry on, is as old as civilization itself.
This
is the essence of what being a tech rep is all about, as an Ex Rep I am proud of
my small contribution to the projects and programs I participated in..
Tech reps have played a significant
role in building the systems that protected us throughout the cold war, now the
systems have been shut down and the history both of them, and the people who
built them is in danger of being lost.
Tech
Reps have been around just about as long as human civilizations, history tells
us that rulers wishing for great works have always had to import the skills from
afar.
Collectively members of this site have at least 2,000 years of experience doing
interesting work all over the globe, with personal memories of all the key
events of the 20th century, around the world, and in space.
Tech Reps have a unique worldview pretty much based on having been there and
done all that..
This site is provided as a service to all who have worked far from home, under
rough conditions, doing the jobs that no one else would do or could do, their
families and friends

Tech
Reps built the bases, and trained the trainers for communications systems
and avionics systems for WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and are working in the gulf
today.
Tech Reps were called
to build infrastructure in the third world, and to man the tracking stations for
the space race.
they built the
cold war defensive shields in South East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and
elsewhere.
They ride the
workboats & helicopters to offshore platforms to keep the oil flowing..
